The Project reinterprets the traditional Riojan chozo and brings it into the heart of Paseo del Espolón, integrating it into the sequence of elements that shape Logroño’s collective memory. Alongside the city’s monuments and representative architectures, the project highlights an anonymous form of architecture born from economy of means, local resources and knowledge passed down through generations, yet equally rich in identity, history and culture. soportes-anónimos-01
The intervention translates the chozo into a contemporary architectural language through a linear structure of fifteen timber frames, combined with a lightweight translucent enclosure that filters light and creates a sequence of intimate, accessible and inhabitable spaces. Set among the trees of Paseo del Espolón, between La Concha and the General Espartero fountain, the pavilion makes use of shade and the intermediate space between architecture and vegetation to create areas for movement, pause and gathering. soportes-anónimos-02
Rather than literally reproducing vernacular architecture, the proposal recovers its spatial and constructive logic. Form, light and movement transform the pavilion into a place for encounter and cultural dissemination, making visible what has traditionally remained in the background: the anonymous architectures that, through simplicity, sustainability and a close relationship with the land, have helped shape the identity of La Rioja.
